Acquisition of Property

The Property Development Scheme (PDS) has replaced the Integrated Resort Scheme (IRS) and the Real Estate Scheme (RES) and allows the sale of residential properties to non-citizens, citizens and members of the Mauritian diaspora.

A non-citizen may apply for a residence permit only if the value of the unit acquired exceeds US$500,000 or its equivalent in any freely convertible foreign currency. The residence permit is valid as long as the acquirer owns the property.
